Big day for the Stars

A day that started out foggy and dreary ended in sunshine and wins for the Northeast Stars 10u and 12u teams. The day kicked off with the 10u’s continuing a very successful fall season adding 2 more wins against the North Reading Hornets to up their record to 5-1. The team featured strong pitching on the day, with Evelyn L. striking out 12 in 4 innings of work in the 11-2 victory. Evelyn demonstrated pin point control for the entire outing having only 3 walks in the game. The Stars hitters were patient getting on base with a number of walks as well as well placed hits, followed by aggressive base running to seal the game as the time limit expired.

In game 2, Cadence H. and Sara K. combined for a win as the Stars 10u again ran away with the victory in a 12-2 game. Cadence H. struck out 6 in 3 innings of work and was supported by some great defensive plays by Evelyn L., Carrie G. and Kate H. Sara K. was the hitting star of the game hitting a rocket through the infield to score a couple of runs. Marianna J., Olivia L., Katie M, Lauren S, and Liv L. all tore up the base paths with aggressive running.

Once the fog cleared the sun came out and so did the Stars 12u team, who battled Billerica and won their first 2 games of the season! Game 1 featured an outstanding pitching by Sofia T. who pitched 5 solid innings following by Sydney C who closed things out for the 15-6 win. In game 2, Izzy M. pitched another gem for the Stars collecting a win of her own. Izzy moved the ball around and changed speeds often to keep the Billerica hitters off balance to secure the win.

There were many hitting stars of the day, as the entire team hit the ball hard and often. Savanna B, Sofia T., Aimee Q., Sophia B. and Talia C. all collected multiple hits on the afternoon. Again true to form for the Stars organization, the base running was aggressive which forced many errors on the defense. There was also some great defensive plays made by Mia M., Talia C. Sophia B, Savannah B. and Summer S. to name a few. Strong defense, timely hitting and some great pitching performances capped off a great day for the Stars organization as a whole.

The coaching staff is so proud of all the hard work these girls has put in over the past couple of weeks. Many of these girls are new to club softball and are adjusting to the speed and intensity of the games. Their focus, determination and attention to detail has been outstanding and it is certainly showing on the field. Great job girls, you earned it! Can’t wait for next week!
